The Kyocera 170HM8 is a 1/2" diameter, 4 flute, high speed steel end mill with a 1-1/2" overall length. It has a TiAlN coating for increased hardness and heat resistance. The end mill has a 30 degree helix angle and is center cutting for plunge cuts. It is designed for slotting, profiling, and contouring in steels, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals at speeds up to 325 SFM. The end mill has a tolerance of +/- .002" on diameter.

It has a right hand spiral flute and can cut 60 degree internal threads in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other materials. The thread mill has a 1/2" shank and is capable of cutting unified thread sizes from 4-56 to 1/4-20 as well as metric thread sizes from M1 to M6. With its sharp cutting edges and wear resistant coating, this thread mill provides accurate threading and long tool life in production applications.
